Poll: Canadians divided on government protection in conflict zones

A recent Leger survey reveals that 52% of Canadians believe their government does not owe protection to citizens who remain in conflict zones despite warnings to leave. The poll, conducted amidst ongoing evacuations from Lebanon, shows a generational divide. While only 34% of respondents think the federal government is responsible for protecting and evacuating its citizens, 49% of Canadians aged 18-24 believe Canada has this obligation. The survey highlights varying opinions across age groups, political affiliations, and provinces, with older Canadians and Conservative voters being less supportive of government intervention in such scenarios.
