Start-up Visa (SUV) entrepreneur immigration to Canada slowed in February, with a 14.3% drop in new permanent residents from January, aligning with the overall decline in Canadian immigration. However, despite this dip, the numbers were significantly higher than the same period last year. For instance, Canada welcomed 490 immigrant entrepreneurs via the SUV in January, a substantial increase from 50 the previous year. If the current trend continues, Canada could welcome up to 5,550 immigrant entrepreneurs this year. The SUV program, launched in 2015, initially welcomed 55 immigrant entrepreneurs. This figure has seen consistent growth, except for a decrease in 2020 due to the pandemic. However, 2021 witnessed a strong rebound with 385 new permanent residents, an increase of 48.1% over 2020. By 2022, the SUV had fully recovered from the pandemic impact, doubling in popularity from the previous year.
