The Government of Canada will replace documents for individuals affected by flooding in Nova Scotia

The Canadian government is helping communities and individuals affected by severe flooding in Nova Scotia. On July 25, 2023, Sean Fraser, Minister of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), announced that Canadians, permanent residents, and temporary residents impacted by the floods could receive free replacement documents. These documents include permanent resident cards, proof of citizenship, Canadian citizenship certificates, Canadian passports, and other travel documents that have been lost, damaged, or destroyed. Additionally, international students, temporary foreign workers, and other visitors whose status expires by November 30, 2023, can apply to restore or extend their status in Canada without charge. These special measures will be in effect until November 30, 2023.
