Canada approved the legislation supporting humanitarian aid for vulnerable Afghans

The Canadian Government has passed Bill C-41 to amend the Criminal Code and make it easier for Canadian organizations to provide humanitarian aid in areas controlled by terrorist groups, including Afghanistan. The legislation provides an exception for the delivery of assistance by impartial humanitarian organizations operating under international law. Those who receive authorization can carry out activities like health services, education, and resettlement of refugees without risk of criminal liability. These changes uphold Canada’s commitment to Afghanistan and obligations to combat terrorism in accordance with United Nations Security Council Resolution 2615.
