Canada will continue to collaborate with the US under the Safe Third Country Agreement

The Supreme Court of Canada upheld the designation of the United States as a safe third country. Under the Safe Third Country Agreement (STCA), the United States and Canada protect human rights and fundamental freedoms and collaborate on migration, asylum and refugee issues. The Canadian Government will continue working with the United States to ensure that they promote safe and regular pathways for people and support other countries in establishing their domestic policies to protect refugees and asylum seekers.
