Alberta is expanding the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) to attract more healthcare workers, refugees, and entrepreneurs to operate businesses in rural areas. The program has undergone some changes to encourage immigration to the province. Under the AAIP, foreign nationals hoping to immigrate to Canada only need to make a minimum investment of $100,000 instead of the previously demanded $200,000. In 2022, there was a significant increase in immigration to Alberta, with a rise of 25.6% and 49,505 new permanent residents.
