Ottawa updated instructions for immigration medical examinations

On March 6, 2023, the Government of Canada published instructions on using an alternative medical practitioner to complete the immigration medical examination. According to the update, following the updated operational procedures, some applicants may be exempted from using an alternative medical practitioner if he or she is unable to travel to a panel physician. In-Canada applicants are eligible for dispensation if a panel physician is not available to offer services in the applicant’s preferred official language within a 250 km distance or a 4-hour drive from their residence.
