IRCC and ESDC may face processing delays as employees prepare for a labour strike

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) may experience processing delays as its union group employees prepare for a labour strike in mid-April 2023. Around 159,000 workers from different governmental departments are expected to stop working, which may cause service disruptions within IRCC. Immigration applicants can expect delays in application processing and citizenship and passport services. Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) applications may also be delayed, as Employment and Social Development Canada and Service Canada (ESDC) employees will go on strike.
