For a third consecutive year, Canada ranks as the world’s safest country for LGBTQ+ travellers

In early March, a travel site dedicated to safety published a report indicating the safest countries for LGBTQ+ travelers. According to “The 203 Worst (& Safest) Countries for LGBTQ+ Travel in 2023,” Canada has topped the list of the most LGBTQ+ countries globally for the third consecutive year. Canada has a strong record for LGBTQ+ rights. They legalized same-sex marriage early on, have constitutional anti-discrimination protections, and it is a safe place for gay and lesbian people. Compiling the safest countries is based on ten factors associated with LGBTQ+ safety. These factors include the criminalization of violence, protection against discrimination, and the legality of same-sex relationships.
