On February 23, 2023, the Government of Canada announced new measures to support Iranian temporary residents in Canada. Effective March 1, 2023, the new measures will prioritize the applications of Iranian nationals who want to extend their temporary status or apply for another temporary resident visa in Canada. The Canadian Government will also issue open work permits for Iranians in Canada. In addition, the Government waived certain processing fees for Iranian nationals to extend their stay in Canada. Passport and permanent resident travel document fees for citizens and permanent residents of Canada in Iran also have been waived to support those who may suffer from human rights violations.
