On March 31, 2023, the Government of Canada extended the Hong Kong Open Work Permit Public Policy until February 7, 2025, to support more Hong Kong residents coming to Canada. The Government also expanded the eligibility requirements allowing Hong Kong residents who obtained their education credentials in the last ten years to apply for an open work permit. In-Canada applicants who want to extend their status as temporary residents, workers, or students do not qualify for fee exemptions as of March 31, 2023.
