Canada helps Afghan LGBTQ2 refugees to come to Canada

On June 3, 2022, the Government of Canada celebrated Pride Month by helping Afghan LGBTQ2 individuals to come to Canada. Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is collaborating with the Rainbow Refugee Society through the Rainbow Refugee Assistance Partnership, which encourages Canadians to sponsor LGBTQ2 refugees and expands collaboration between LGBTQ2 groups and refugee sponsorship organizations. Initially, this collaboration offered 50 cost-sharing places each year for privately sponsored refugees. In response to the crisis in Afghanistan, an additional 150 spaces will be provided for Afghan refugees between 2022 and 2024.
