Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) focuses on attracting global tech talent to fill job vacancies and promote innovation. To achieve this goal, the government has developed a new Innovation Stream to attract highly talented individuals under the International Mobility Program, exempting high-growth employers and skilled workers from the impact assessment process of the labour market. The government is also exploring policies to attract digital nomads to Canada and improving existing immigration programs that cater to high-skilled tech workers, including the Global Skills Strategy and the Start-up Visa Program. Additionally, H-1B specialty occupation visa holders in the US will be eligible to apply for an open work permit of up to three years, expanding opportunities for skilled workers to pursue their careers in the high-tech sector in North America.
