On November 7, 2023, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is enhancing the processing of International Experience Canada (IEC) work permits through expanded automation. A new tool will triage applications based on complexity and approve eligibility for routine applications, increasing efficiency and supporting the growth of the IEC. This tool, part of IRCC’s commitment to technology, undertakes most clerical tasks and directs applications to officers based on their expertise. The new tool will identify routine applications for streamlined processing, with final decisions made by an officer.
