On the 156th anniversary of Confederation, Sean Fraser, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), extended his warmest Canada Day greetings to all Canadians. Fraser also welcomed new Canadians and highlighted their valuable contribution to Canada’s prosperity and growth. Newcomers play a significant role in the Canadian economy. They bring fresh perspectives and skills to Canadian communities, filling labour shortages in in-demand sectors while enriching Canada’s society. On July 1, 2023, over 1,000 people were expected to become new citizens across the country.
