Canada’s Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot (RNIP) has the potential to become a permanent immigration program. According to Sean Fraser, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), the RNIP has been an enormous success, and communities that participate in the program want to bring more people in through the program. The RNIP communities recruit skilled immigrants as part of the five-year RNIP project to fill the labour shortage in small communities with an aging population and a lack of skilled workers.
