On March 14, 2023, the Government of Canada published processing instructions regarding the temporary special measures to support Iranian temporary residents living, working, or studying in Canada. To help support Canadian citizens and permanent residents residing in Iran, the measures have granted fee waivers on travel documents to help facilitate their travel. In effect until February 28, 2024, these special measures include priority processing and fee waivers for temporary residents in Canada and Canadian citizens and permanent residents currently living in Iran.
