Canada will continue to contribute to the asylum system in the Americas

On September 1, 2022, the Government of Canada announced that Canada will continue to support vulnerable people in having access to safety. Canada’s commitment to succeed in the Comprehensive Regional Protection and Solutions Framework (MIRPS) will help it maintain its position as a leader in asylum system development for Central America and Mexico. Canada will continue to aid in capacity building of the asylum system, among other protective measures. In support of MIRPS, Sean Fraser, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), highlighted Canada’s support for the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) and announced 3 capacity-building projects over the next 2 years.
