The Government of Canada has announced a comprehensive $1.3 billion investment in border security measures, including deploying 60 new drones and advanced surveillance technology. Immigration Minister Marc Miller and Public Safety Minister David J. McGuinty revealed plans to increase border removals by 25% this year, following the successful removal of over 16,000 individuals in the previous year. The initiative, part of Canada’s Border Plan launched in December 2024, aims to balance humanitarian responsibilities with strengthened border control through enhanced real-time surveillance and inter-agency cooperation.
