Canada extends work permit exemptions for TR2PR applicants until 2026

Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has extended the temporary public policy regarding work permit exemptions for temporary resident to permanent resident pathway applicants. This extension, which builds upon the policy established in July 2021, will remain in effect through December 31, 2026. The initiative addresses the needs of foreign nationals currently established in Canada, enabling them and their qualifying family members to pursue open work permits during the permanent residency application review process. This strategic approach facilitates a more efficient pathway from temporary to permanent residence status for eligible candidates.
