Canada’s spousal sponsorship immigration sees a rise in July

Spousal sponsorship immigration to Canada rebounded in July by 8.3%, with 6,170 new permanent residents, following a decline of 7.1% in June, which recorded only 5,695 new residents. However, immigration through this program remains 18.6% lower year-to-date, totalling 40,700 new permanent residents compared to 50,065 during the same period last year. Ontario had the most arrivals, with 20,395 spouses or common-law partners, while Newfoundland and Labrador saw a significant 75% increase in July. Conversely, Saskatchewan experienced the largest percentage drop in spousal immigration, with 13% fewer new permanent residents than the previous month.
