IRCC extends CUAET measures for Ukrainian nationals

On August 13, 2024, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) announced an extension of certain CUAET measures. According to the update, Ukrainian nationals, along with their family members, who arrive in Canada under the Canada-Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel (CUAET) before March 31, 2024, are eligible to apply for a new open work permit (or study permit or visitor record) for an additional three years. The application deadline for this new work permit is March 31, 2025. Notably, all Ukrainians and their family members currently residing in Canada as temporary residents can access free settlement services until this date. Applicants will be required to pay fees when applying for work permits, which include a $155 fee for a temporary residence work permit and a $100 fee for an open work permit. According to the latest IRCC update, approximately 1,189,320 applications have been submitted through the CUAET program.
