A recent Ipsos survey reveals growing division among Canadians regarding federal immigration targets. Over a third believe Canada is accepting “too many” immigrants, with skepticism about cities’ capacity to accommodate the influx due to strained infrastructure. While 55% see immigration as beneficial to their towns, 22% disagree. Provincially, 41% of Ontarians view immigration negatively, compared to 33% in Prince Edward Island and 27% in Alberta. Nationally, 63% have a positive outlook on immigration, but concerns about living costs, job competition, and the economic contributions of newer immigrant cohorts are rising.
