On January 16, 2024, Marc Miller, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), announced several initiatives to bolster Francophone immigration outside Quebec. These include a new immigration policy, an expanded Welcoming Francophone Communities initiative, a support program for Francophone immigration, and an Action Plan for Official Languages. The new policy will support the vitality and economic growth of Francophone communities, addressing labour shortages and promoting recruitment. The targets for Francophone immigrant admissions outside Quebec are 6% in 2024, 7% in 2025, and 8% in 2026.
