The Labour Force Survey showed that the employment rate in Canada has increased as 35,000 more people obtained paying jobs in March 2023, while the unemployment rate remained at 5 percent. As the employment rate increased, visible minorities also landed more paid jobs, becoming a more significant part of the labour market. In addition, the employment rate of 25 to 54 years old core-aged Black Canadians climbed to 79.9 percent in March compared to 78.6 percent in 2022. The increase in employment was mainly seen in Ontario, Manitoba, Alberta, and Prince Edward Island.
