On International Francophonie Day, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) celebrates the French language in Canadian culture. The ability to communicate in multiple languages strengthens Canadian society, fosters cultural appreciation, and increases economic opportunities for all Canadians. The Government of Canada values the contributions of people from francophone countries worldwide who have enriched Canada with their unique cultures and perspectives. In 2022, Canada increased the number of French-speaking immigrants outside Quebec to 4.4%. IRCC is committed to continuing its efforts to increase diversity in the country and to maintain a balance between the French- and English-speaking communities across Canada.
