On July 28, 2022, Statistics Canada introduced new statistics about the labour market condition in early May. Employers in Canada were actively looking to hire just over one million people (1,005,700) across all industries. This is up 42.5% (+300,100) from May 2021. Seasonal fluctuations have been removed from new data from Statistics Canada, which indicate that job openings rose gradually until December 2021 before staying consistent in recent months. The job vacancy rate remained at 5.8 percent for the second month in a row in May, but it was up 4.4 percent from a year earlier.
