On March 4, 2022, Newfoundland and Labrador introduced the Ukrainian Family Support Desk to provide help for Ukrainian citizens escaping the horrors of war and persecution. According to Gerry Byrne, Minister of Immigration, Population Growth, and Skills, the new Ukrainian Family Support Desk will allow people living in the province to help Ukrainians to arrive soon. The Minister added that there were an overwhelming response and a strong wish to help in this stance and the population of Newfoundland and Labrador will greet Ukrainians with open arms.
