On March 1, 2022, the Government of Canada extended the public policy allowing certain visitors in Canada to apply for a work permit. The public policy, which came into effect on August 24, 2020, has been extended until February 28, 2023, allowing all temporary residents who are in Canada to apply inland for an employer-specific work permit, regardless of their arrival time in Canada. The public policy also allows eligible former temporary foreign workers to work in Canada while a decision on their work permit application is pending.
