A recent survey revealed that while newcomers to Canada appreciate the opportunity to settle in the country, many express concerns about insufficient jobs and services to help them succeed. Over 80% of respondents believe that Canada’s immigration system is bringing in too many people without adequate planning for housing, infrastructure, or employment opportunities. The poll, conducted by Pollara Strategic Insights, indicated that 14% of newcomers were unemployed, significantly higher than the national average. A major issue highlighted by participants was the difficulty in recognizing their foreign work experience, with a quarter stating that their experience was not acknowledged and one-sixth noting that their academic credentials were unrecognized during their job searches in Canada. These challenges underscore the need for improved support systems for immigrants aiming to establish themselves in Canada.
