Prince Edward Island‘s healthcare system was significantly boosted as 34 internationally educated nurses graduated from the Transition to Registered Nursing in Canada (TRNC) program. The 14-week intensive program, launched in May 2024, has successfully completed four out of seven planned intakes for the year, with an additional 21 nurses currently in training. Health and Wellness Minister Mark McLane praised the graduates’ dedication, highlighting this achievement as crucial in addressing the province’s nursing shortage. The initiative complements other healthcare expansion efforts, including a 23% increase in nursing student seats at UPEI since 2021.
