IRCC updated the work permit application process at ports of entry

On December 24, 2024, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) announced significant changes to work permit applications at ports of entry. Most foreign nationals within Canada can no longer apply for work permits at these locations, with notable exceptions for U.S. citizens and permanent residents, professionals under various Free Trade Agreements, eligible truck drivers with prior permits, and those with pre-scheduled CBSA appointments. This policy change aims to streamline and manage the work permit application process more effectively while ensuring proper screening and documentation.
