Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has unveiled comprehensive measures to strengthen the integrity of its immigration system. The landmark reforms include ending the practice of ‘flagpoling’ at US-Canada borders, introducing legislative amendments for visa cancellations in cases of mass fraud, streamlining the asylum process, and implementing significant changes to the Express Entry system. A notable modification involves the removal of Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) points from Express Entry scoring, signalling a fundamental shift in Canada’s immigration policy framework. These sweeping changes aim to enhance border security, optimize resource allocation, and maintain the integrity of Canada’s immigration programs.
