A concerning new study exposes a significant mismatch between skilled immigrants‘ qualifications and their employment opportunities in Canada. The research shows that 26.7% of recent immigrants with bachelor’s degrees or higher work in jobs requiring only high school education – triple the rate of Canadian-born workers. This underutilization of talent is particularly pronounced among immigrants educated in Southeast and Southern Asia, who face a 2.7 times higher risk of overqualification than those educated in Canada, resulting in a staggering 46% earnings gap.
