To strengthen the integrity of the immigration system, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) announced that Express Entry candidates will no longer receive additional points for job offers starting in spring 2025. This temporary measure aims to prevent fraud by eliminating incentives for illegal trading of labour market impact assessments. The change will affect new and existing candidates in the Express Entry pool, except those already invited to apply or with applications in progress. The government emphasizes that this reform supports Canada’s commitment to maintaining a fair and well-managed immigration system.
