Canada introduces revised regulations for the International Student Program

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has implemented substantial modifications to the International Student Program, effective November 15, 2024. These revised regulations enhance the program’s long-term viability and safeguard students from potential exploitation. Notable changes encompass off-campus work hours to 24 per week during academic terms and require students to secure approval for a new study permit before transferring institutions. Furthermore, designated learning institutions are now subject to more stringent compliance reporting obligations, with the possibility of suspension for non-adherence.
