Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has announced a five-year extension of its temporary public policy exempting certain low-risk, in-Canada foreign nationals from additional immigration medical examinations. The policy, now extended until October 5, 2029, has already benefited over 286,000 clients in its initial two years. This extension aims to expedite application processing and enhance client service for eligible foreign nationals while allowing IRCC to continue assessing operational results and collaborating with the Public Health Agency of Canada on public health considerations. The exemption applies to applicants who have completed a medical examination within the last five years and pose no risk to public health or safety.
