The addition of 250,229 people from April to July 2024 was primarily driven by international migration, accounting for 96% of the growth. Despite a decrease in study permit holders, Canada welcomed 134,138 immigrants in Q2, the highest since Q1 2023. The number of non-permanent residents continues to rise, albeit slower, reaching 3,002,090 by July 1, 2024.
