Quebec unveils new regulations for immigration of skilled workers

The Government of Quebec has announced changes to its immigration regulations, particularly affecting the Qualified Worker Selection Program (QWSP). Set to take effect on November 29, 2024, the new regulations introduce Stream 3 for regulated professions, requiring applicants to obtain proof of skill recognition or admission from relevant regulatory authorities before applying for permanent selection. Notably, Stream 3 applicants will have a generous one-year deadline to submit their applications, a considerable extension from the 60-day limit in other streams. This modification aims to accommodate the processing times of regulatory bodies and forms part of the broader QWSP, which includes four streams targeting various skill levels and professions.
