According to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), more than 200 Gazans have entered Canada through a special temporary residency program initiated in January. This marks a significant increase since the program’s expansion in late May, which raised the visa cap from 1,000 to 5,000. Despite challenges in facilitating exits from Gaza, Canadian officials are working with local authorities to process eligible applicants. The program has garnered substantial interest, with nearly 4,000 applications currently under review. All applicants undergo security screening, including biometric checks for those able to leave Gaza.
