Atlantic housing ministers seek $500m federal investment

Housing ministers from New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland and Labrador are calling for a targeted $500 million federal investment to address the urgent housing crisis across Atlantic Canada. On August 23, 2024, the ministers emphasized the need for collaborative solutions to accelerate housing development, including off-site construction initiatives and addressing labour shortages. New Brunswick’s Social Development Minister, Jill Green, stressed the importance of partnerships in tackling the housing crunch, highlighting the provinces’ commitment to working closely with the federal government to ensure their substantial investments are met with equal federal support.
