On July 23, 2024, the governments of Canada and Saskatchewan announced a $2.1 million investment to redevelop six affordable homes in Regina. Social Services Minister Gene Makowsky and representatives from the Regina Housing Authority gathered to commence the project, which will convert six one-storey units into two-storey homes with four bedrooms each. This initiative, funded through the Canada-Saskatchewan Bi-Lateral Agreement under the National Housing Strategy, aims to provide safe and affordable housing for larger families. Minister Dan Vandal emphasized the importance of collaboration between government levels to achieve such milestones in affordable housing.
