In 2023, the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) nominated a record 8,200 individuals for permanent residence, reflecting significant growth from the previous year. The program enhanced its strategic selection to support BC’s economic needs by focusing on education, language skills, and regional employment. As a result, over a third of the nominees were located outside Metro Vancouver. The BC PNP continued to prioritize sectors like healthcare, childcare, veterinary care, and technology, and in November, added construction to meet labour demands for housing projects. The program also transitioned the Entrepreneur Immigration Regional Pilot to an ongoing stream, reinforcing its commitment to regional economic development.
