Due to the overwhelming demand for immigration to Alberta, which exceeds the limited number of nominations received from the federal government each year, the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) has announced new guidelines to manage its 2024 allocation. These guidelines aim to address economic priorities across all sectors. The new guidelines apply to the Alberta Opportunity Stream, Rural Renewal Stream, and Accelerated Tech Pathway and mirror those used in the Tourism and Hospitality Stream. From now on, a specific number of applications will be accepted each month, allowing applicants multiple opportunities to apply and access the program throughout the year. The eligibility criteria remain unchanged for all the streams. The new approach will be effective from June 11, 2024, and applications will be accepted monthly. Once the monthly application target is reached, no further applications will be accepted until the next scheduled date.
