British Columbia’s minimum wage to increase on June 1, 2024

Starting June 1, 2024,um British Colbia’s minimum wage will rise from $16.75 to $17.40 per hour. This 65-cent increase represents a 3.9% boost, aligning with the province’s average inflation rate. The minimum wage applies to all workers, regardless of whether they are paid hourly, by salary, commission, or through an incentive basis. Employers must ensure that employees’ earnings meet the minimum wage for the hours worked, compensating for any shortfall. Additionally, on June 1st, the special minimum wages for liquor servers, live-in camp leaders, live-in home support workers, and resident caretakers will also increase.
