On February 8, 2024, emphasizing its strong partnership with the Government of Quebec, the Government of Canada announced the funding for the fiscal year 2023–2024. Marc Miller, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), disclosed that the grant, totalling $775.1 million, supports settlement services and the integration of newcomers in alignment with the Canada–Quebec Accord on Immigration. This funding reflects the ongoing commitment to an equitable partnership, with Quebec receiving a total of $5.2 billion since 2015. The Accord, in effect since 1991, aims to maintain Quebec’s demographic significance within Canada while facilitating immigrant integration and respecting Quebec’s distinct identity. Quebec is the sole province receiving an annual grant, illustrating the collaborative approach between the federal and provincial governments.
