On January 23, 2024, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) announced that more international students are eligible to work off campus for more than 20 hours during academic sessions. Effective from January 1 to April 30, 2024, a new policy will allow certain students to work off-campus for over 20 hours weekly during regular academic sessions if IRCC received their study permit application between October 8, 2022, and January 1, 2024. The previous policy allowed international students to work off-campus for over 20 hours weekly during an academic session if IRCC received their study permit application before or on October 7, 2022.
