As of December 15, 2023, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) ended the temporary policy, facilitating the processing of temporary resident visa (TRV) applications. Implemented by IRCC on February 28, 2023, to address backlog due to COVID-19, the policy successfully cleared most old TRV cases, improving processing speeds. The policy termination doesn’t affect existing visa holders, who can travel to Canada until their visa expires. IRCC continues to address the backlog and expedite TRV processing in response to increasing demand for visiting Canada.
