Canada will help reunite Yazidis and their families

Starting December 1, 2023, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) will accept applications from family members of resettled Yazidis and other Daesh survivors in Canada. The International Organization for Migration in Iraq will assist with the application process. This policy will permit up to 400 principal applicants and their families to migrate to Canada, remaining valid until December 31, 2026, or until the application limit is reached. Principals must be Iraqi nationals residing in Iraq and planning to live outside Quebec. Extended family and dependents need a declaration from a Canadian permanent resident who is a survivor of Daesh. Approved applicants will get a year’s income support and resettlement aid, including mental health coverage.
