Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) announced that Canada has met its goal to welcome at least 40,000 vulnerable Afghans since August 2021. This milestone was achieved through the continuous efforts of multiple partners locally and internationally, including regional countries, the United Nations Refugee Agency, the International Organization for Migration, and NGOs. Canada remains committed to helping Afghan nationals, and IRCC will continue processing applications under the Afghan special measures. As of now, Canada has welcomed a total of 40,415 Afghan refugees.
